Documentation changes

Changes to the categoryi module documentation, such as additions and enhancements. Most of the documentation changes occur on this site.

New tutorial on using CCK nodes as categories

|

This site now has a new tutorial, to help you in using CCK nodes to build a category hierarchy. This is something that is only possible with the recent development of allowing other node types to be categories / containers. Also, this tutorial was published almost a week ago, but this announcement was delayed until now because a core Drupal bug prevented it from actually being carried out. That bug has now been fixed in both the HEAD and the 4.7 branches of Drupal.

Taxonomy access semi-compatible with category

|

The categoryi module has just been tested with the popular taxonomy access control (TAC) module, and the results are mixed. Access to assigned nodeis is controlled correctly through TAC, but creating new assigned nodes and viewing node listings is not being controlled at all. This behaviour should prove adequate for many situations, but obviously is not adequate for everything.

Legacy import tutorial available

|

The second tutorial to be written for the categoryi module teaches you how to import taxonomy and book data using category_legacy. This tutorial is a must-read for anyone who's switching from taxonomy and book to the category module, and who has a sizeable amount of old data that needs to be converted.

First beginner tutorial available

| |

This site now has a new tutorials section, and the first beginner tutorial for the categoryi module is available there now! The tutorial is called 'Creating a basic hybrid structure', and it is designed to walk you through setting up a commonly-used category structure, and to teach you the basics of using the module along the way.

Glossary written

|

This site now has a glossary! The list of definitions is already quite expansive, and will only get bigger as time goes on. The glossary aims to provide a quick explanation for any confusing terms used on this site, or anywhere in the categoryi module.
